Re: new guy

Hi Del, you are going to need to travel a bit more I would say.Your previous bikes sold in much larger quantities than the KTM so are more readily available. To get my 1190 I covered over 500kms each way, but it was worth it. My experience of KTM dealers is similar to yours - they really don't seem ...

Can't you just turn both the GPS and the test bike to read MPH. It is switchable in the bike after all?

Re: 1190 Adv Speedo correction

So, just to make sure in my mind, we're not just talking about 1190 R here, we're talking about both versions? If that's the case and they don't cost too much, why not? My only concern is that the error shown by Boeing's test is well within normally experienced car vectors, so I would just hope that...

Re: Are KTMs too expensive in UK?

Are they still restricted to 100hp in France? In theory yes, until Jan 2016 when they are allowed to be full power. But mine, origine France, is 150 bhp - it's just a bit of software adjustment. If it's cheaper, buy your bike in France and on the first service back in the UK, ask them to make it fu...

Re: Brake pads?

I always use EBC pads after the original ones wear out and never had any problems with disc wear. On Ebay UK the EBC sintered front pads are excellent value : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EBC-Front-Sintered-Brake-Pads-FA244HH-KTM-1190-ADVENTURE-2013-2014-/361068941064?hash=item541162cf08 So 2 packets o...

Re: Are KTMs too expensive in UK?

In France the KTM 1290 SuperDuke R brand new lists at 15,995 inc vat but plus bits to put it on the road.

At today's (14/10/2015) exchange rate that would equate to £11,866. Obviously excludes any special deals.

The problem, as I see it,is that it is NOT a Nationwide thing, so if you're not familiar with a particular town or city you won't automatically know where you stand.

Re: Adv 1190 vs Adv 1190 R performance on the road

Thanks Dave! Great tips ;) Can i adjust on the go both front and rear damping? Yes you can, but it's important to understand that on a std. suspension you do each component individually ie front forks first then rear shock for both damping AND pre-load. You do the adjustments physically at each uni...

Re: Slipper Clutch

The slipper clutch has nothing to do with the revs for a particular gear and speed, all it does is to allow you to drop down the box, without locking up the rear wheel. We really could do with a lot more specific information before being able to help you further. What speeds, what gears, what sprock...

Re: Adv 1190 vs Adv 1190 R performance on the road

You need to go for the 1190 Adventure in my opinion. My usage is similar to yours in that I don't do real hard off-road stuff. Gravel tracks yes, muddy trails no. The 1190 Adv. comes as std. with Electronic suspension which I find very useful as you can adjust the damping and pre-load, at the touch ...

I've just been for a little bimble with the Ergo seat set on high and to be honest it was like sitting in a high armchair.

I could ride like that all day.
