Re: 2010 SMT has been in shop for six weeks!

Hi 'SuaveDave' I'm onto the same route as 'limeyduffa' - soon it's nescessary to try out eVerytHinG... I have the 990 2010 as well. During the hot period in July 2015, the idle went away... just like that, suddenly. It happened a few times during 1 week, and when thinking about it I remembered I did...

Re: Sump plug still leaking

Next step c/would be to remove the Helicoil, drill e clean area and let somebody tig weld new material in. Then drill and tap new threads (or Helocoil).

Re: Sump plug still leaking

What kind of washer did you put on the screw? Copper, aluminium?
Maybe you should try some tape for threads? Don't know the name of it.
Or Loctite that you can remove?

Re: Drop in oil pressure during high speed running.

I agree wth 'jhalfhide'. Send the pictures to KTM and give them the chance to give their oppinion of what has happened in that engine.
Also, if possible, send them the data's WHEN and at what milage the oil and filters were changed.

Re: Excessive wear on rear sprocket

Hi 'Elvis'
Maybe a stupid question, but is that aluminum rear sprocket?
The excessive wear appears to be at the top of the teeths - correct? That's odd, I havn't seen anything like that. Not even at motocross bikes.
Sorry, I have no explanation.

Hmmm....
That C-spanner is not included in the bag with tools to my 2010 bike... :?
Nice way of doing it though! :)

Re: Chain guide questions

I should of guessed that... Sorry, but there is no idea to try make new threads in the thin aluminium swinging arm. It is M5 threads from the beginning, and I tried to make M6, but then there is only a few threads in the material, thus make the screw fall out (or in?!) again... Don't even think abou...

Re: Coolant change

Good! 8-)

You mean to fill coolant liquid in the radiator filling hole? No, but it is a bit tricky to fill the liquid. I do recommend you to use a funnel with a hose attached to it. Makes it MUCH easier!

I have no experience of Maxima Coolanol.
Maybe somebody else knows about that product?

Re: Coolant change

Haha :D No, there is no box or something placed underneth the ingine. The black thing is a rubber floor mat and you can see the extension of it through the rear wheel spokes ;) The light grey area 'above' the black rubber mat is the floor. 'Under' the black rubber mat is another rubber mat, but in a...

Re: Clutch Slave

Hi 'gab1'

Buy the Oberon clutch slave.

Mounting plate? I don't know what that is. Could you explain, please?

I havn't noticed any cluth slip during the 40000 km I owned my 990 SMt -10. In total it's 57000 km on the ODO.

Re: Chain guide questions

OK, mount the new screw and bush, and keep an eye on it regularely! I might been thinking a bit off yesterday. I believe you have loosen and demount the front sprocket to get it out of the way to remove the old chain guide and mount the new one. I bought my 2010 in 2015 with 17090 km on the clocks, ...

Re: Chain guide questions

Hi 'Zombie Master'. Yes, if I remember correct it is possible to replace the old chainguide with a new one, when chain is still in place. But I think you need to loosen the rear wheel axle (spindle?) nut, tighten the adjusters as far the go in and push the wheel forward as long as possible to get mo...

Re: Coolant change

Hi

This is the way I do it:
1:st gear engaged (if the chain is attached...). Otherwisw, use a piece of wood or similar to stop the rear wheel not to roll backwards.

Hi 'thebomby' Ouch! 570 dollars fine.... f**k... It's the same here in Sweden, I'v heard. A friend almost lost his driving license once, speedeing like 145 km/h at an 110 km/h road. With passenger. That was stupid, I have to say. AHA  All of a sudden I understand why people say that the thrott...

Great, Limey!

First I didn't understand what you are taking about. Headlight, that's the stronger light used when dark, I thought.
Then I realized I am wrong
The High Beam light is the one to use when dark, right :)

Thank's for sharing!

Re: Checking oil level

Hi 'Hardyrider' The short answer is No. I've changed the engine oil several times in the engine on my bike. You will learn what level it should be after a while. When you have done the level check and the oil is in specified level, you let the engine stand for like 24 hours. Then you raise the bike ...
