Re: Coolant change

Hi "Zombiemaster"

990 SMT 2010
I did that operation during last spring. No problem at all. Just followed the manual.
Recommend you to follow it as well.

Re: Filter contemplations

Hi "Cozakdenni" Demount the original air box to an open filter system (like ITG, Rottweiler or similar) and mount other silencers (Wings?) and remap. If you don´t want to remove the air box, I suggest you to replace to an air filter and "triangular" air filter at the side of the ...

Re: Clutch plates need change?

Aha, good to know!
I wonder what made the plates and frictions plates "got stocked together"... Overheat? Bad oil?

My SMt 2010 has today 50000 km and never had a problem with the clutch.

Re: Clutch Slave

I bought the Oberon cluth slave cylinder and replaced tho original one. It was a bit tricky to get all the air out from the system, but when done it works as expected.
Can´t say that it works better than original Magura, but for sure the Oberon is better quality.

Re: KTM Scottoiler

Hi "kennykjam" Nice that you put on a "automatic chain luber". Saves some time and money not to lube the chain every 300 km... Does Scottoiler recommend to put the drop tube to the outside o-ring and at the rear sprocket? To me this seems strange. I can´t see why put lube to only...

Does the second flies decrease the engine braking? I took the flies out and cant notice any decrease in enginge braking.

Are there bearings... ? I didn´t know that. A look at the KTM shop tells me that you are right. Replace them and also replace the screw, is my advice.

Re: Tire and sprocket replacements

990 SMT 2010 soon up to 50 000 km.

My bike now has Metzeler Z8 Roadtec Interact mounted, front and rear. I have tried them at touring in both wet and dry conditions and have no problem at all.
Also at 2 track days in sunny and dry conditions, no problem.

Actually, I find them to be quite good.

Hi "jeremybingham"

Hope the new hips are playing on your side of the field ;)

Whan I take the tank off, I HAVE to pull the hose connection for the coolant reservior, otherwise it´s impossible to get the tank off... Maybe it is because the tank has swelled a bit.

Re: Stalling problem!

When I replaced the original clutch slave cylinder to an Oberon, I had some minor problems with air in the system. The clutch felt "spongy" and gearing become more difficult. I air bled the system again and then everything was alright.

Re: 990 Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps

"Tommy" Yes, just like "Mich69" says; it is a big difference with or without the second flies mounted. When I drive at track days the sound/noise doesn´t bother me at all, because I´m so focused of my driving, but when cruising around in town or at commuting I don´t like the nois...

Re: 990 Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps

Maybe because "Jnberr0" dosn´t want to listen to the intake sound (noise) :-)
I had the secondary flies removed and the intake sound is very much noticeable. I mostly use ear plugs so I don´t care that much.

Re: SMT rear hugger.

I have to make an update on this one... Rear left side: I grinded off the inside of the threaded part of the brackets about 2 mm, and also made the screw hole wider, to make the bracket come more far from the drive chain. I also put a M5 nut (drilled out the threads first) under the bracket, to let ...

"limey" Yes, exactly what I would have done too! I "argued" with Neil for more than 2 weeks, and also sent him links to let him read by himself that many people have problems to mount the hugger. But he didn´t listen too much, and tried to explain that from 2015 the manufacturer ...

SMT 2010, 47000 km. First "deep clean" of the brakes ever last weekend. I don´t drive during winter time, and never on salty roads! Drained the brake fluid through the air screws on the calipers. Took the calipers out and pushed the pistons out using pressured air. Cleaned all parts with S...

Update 2017-06-30: KTM 990 SMT 2010, with 46920 km. I have neither used the bike in snowy conditions, nor on "salty" roads. 2 weeks ago 5 friends and I made a long travel in Sweden, Finland and Norway. We ended up at nearly 6000 km in 9 days! Decided to take the brake calipers off and have...

Re: Finally found what I was looking for

Hi "Mich69"! and welcome to the party 8-) Do one really have to replace the complete air filter box? Someone tried this MWR air filter? http://www.racingairfilters.eu/?ids=kop3/sub8 MWR also provide "triangel air filters" instead of the side covers - might be worth a try(?) /M
