Re: Front Caliper rebuild

Hi "Doerbird02" I did the same thing last spring. I recommende you to split the caliper halves. Try to find info how to do the rebuild, it will save you some good riding time in the end. It's M8 thread for the screws, so I believe I tightened them to 2 - 2,5 kg (20-25 Nm). The brake pads: Original I...

Re: Mask/spoiler/side covers fit all years?

Hi "bigred"! How nice that you entered the racetrack at Phillip Island :-) I can imagine the SMt was a pleasant experience there 8-) About the mask, spoiler and side covers. I believe the easiest way to find out is to take a look at a dealers parts fishe. Don't know how you do that in 'down under', ...

Limey

Are you talking to me, as 'MD'?

I never replaced the oem airbox, just replaced the filter to K&N.
Yes I quickly put a new original filter back in.

Re: Air Filter Replacement

Hi 'CatDaddysBBQ' I don't recommend to use a high flow filter like K&N. It DOES let particel through. I have tried it and also other I've read about, examined the hard way that the air filter let bigger particels through. It's better to do the remap after mounting K&N air filter, but not nescessary....

Re: WP Upsidedown 4860 rebuild - pretension changed

Hi Limey First, I made the service for the WP forklegs by myself last spring, at 54600 km. It was totaly innessecary! The sealings and the inner bushings were like brand new. I'm not 100% sure what you are asking about, but I guess you needed to adjust the rebound or the compression by halv a turn? ...

Re: Parts needed - hopefully

Hi guys! It's great that the forum is 'on the road' again. For some reasons I couldn't reach it tha last 2(?) months... I'm slowly on my way back to a 'normal life'. Unfortunatelly my shoulder didn't heal as expected and therefor it needed a small surgery at 28/1 to clean up some things inside there...

Re: 2010 990 SMR Clutch fluid

Hi 'Doms01'

I'm not 100% sure about the capacity in the clutch system, but would be surprised if it's more than 100 ml. I would buy 200 ml, just in case :-)

Re: Replacement Clutch Master Cylinder (Magura)

Aha, I think I got it.
The perch is the clamp mirror and the 'switch' is the clutch lever. Have a look here:

https://www.ktmshop.se/index.php?action ... #partslist

Haven't tried to demount it myself, but isn't is just a screw from top and a nut underneath?

Switch from the perch?
Sorry, not familiar with 'perch' - what is it? And what switch are you talking about?

Hi all Today 1:st of November I picked up the bike at the workshop - for where it has been situated the last 5 months... (I told them early in June that there is no hurry to get the bike ready, due to my fractures at the lower right leg and shoulder problem and 'finger failure') Anyhow I'm able to w...

Re: Engine only runs up to half throttle!

Hi all. Update. I picked up the bike from the workshop today 1:st of November and everything is working great. They didn't do anything about the secondary's except to mount them. The diognos tool didn't say that something was wrong, and it was proved by the engine to run as it is supposed to do :) M

Hi 'SuaveDave' I'm onto the same route as 'limeyduffa' - soon it's nescessary to try out eVerytHinG... I have the 990 2010 as well. During the hot period in July 2015, the idle went away... just like that, suddenly. It happened a few times during 1 week, and when thinking about it I remembered I did...

Re: Sump plug still leaking

Next step c/would be to remove the Helicoil, drill e clean area and let somebody tig weld new material in. Then drill and tap new threads (or Helocoil).

Re: Sump plug still leaking

What kind of washer did you put on the screw? Copper, aluminium?
Maybe you should try some tape for threads? Don't know the name of it.
Or Loctite that you can remove?

I agree wth 'jhalfhide'. Send the pictures to KTM and give them the chance to give their oppinion of what has happened in that engine.
Also, if possible, send them the data's WHEN and at what milage the oil and filters were changed.

Re: Excessive wear on rear sprocket

Hi 'Elvis'
Maybe a stupid question, but is that aluminum rear sprocket?
The excessive wear appears to be at the top of the teeths - correct? That's odd, I havn't seen anything like that. Not even at motocross bikes.
Sorry, I have no explanation.
