Re: Throttle Surging Issues

If you want smooth - I would suggest go back there where it was, to the factory tune. Everything I had in my bike was out of that - some dyno sessions counted in, too - but there was some help with the PC5 because I changed some small percentage throttle opening values of the fuel map myself. The dy...

Re: General failure on cold starting

A few days ago I had GENERAL FAILURE display too at start - but only the fuel gauge plug under the tank was loose. The 3-wire furel pump doesn't get loose so easy. So it might be a rather small failure...

Re: Electrical problems

Well, we have 2 of them but up to this date no electrical problems and 100% trust. 2014 and 2015 both been ridden about 25 000 kms up to thiis date... But, it has to be mentioned we ride mostly for fun (geriatrics fun?) on sunny days, keep bikes basically clean (never mind those insects collecting b...

There are rather nice pics and some discussion about the subject on the other forum: http://www.superduke.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=25227 Is it 2 years already? We did change the coolants in our bikes when we adjusted valves... Now, a few weeks ago I bought 8 litres Motorex M5 because I am not ...

Re: 2015 SD Clutch replacement

" If I try to start a bike in 1st gear with lever pulled in , when i crank it, the bike just starts moving forward, like the clutch has not been pulled at all." But, that looks like the clutch is not disengaging - so better first bleed those both, the lever and work cylinder. But, if revs rise and s...

Re: stock airbox

I don't know what kind of sum there would be involved in posting a package from USA to Australia - but here in our country the bottom part of the box (part. 60306001200) costs about 35 eur and the top lid (part. 60306002000) as well. I changed the air filter tray on my 2014 (into 2015 slightly bette...

Haven't seen but brothers Lantto from Finland did have RC8 1190 with supercharger - one of the brothers had a 1290 SDR but it was on sale some time ago I do not know about the situation... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCPjZnFfOaU

Re: Oil temperature high!!!

I had a faulty one too, replaced it as a warranty item but now, when warranty time is out the new one seems to show 10 deg celsius lower than real. No hope for goodwill at the dealer, it seems. Better always check these with an IR thermometer or like. New part is shamelessly expensive regarding the ...

Re: Low oil temperature - auto-limitation

Well! I found this thread again! My oil temp sensor seems to be going out of business again - as it was replaced late 2015 (as a warranty item). Now, when it has been in use for 2016 season and the beginning of this years season - it seems to show 10 celsius less than the other bikes sensor does... ...

Re: Hypothetical Top Speed

Yes, most of us ride in real world but these hypothetics may help in planning some changes in the for example end gearing... I do have nothing against theory, it may help me see that if the KTM tacho says 240 or 250 the real speed is more like 220... If it reads 300 it may be near 260... But... The ...

Re: Hypothetical Top Speed

Funny, years ago I did a spreadsheet for my Yam with - maybe it was Excel, maybe Open Officed Calc - and made some add-on for the 6 speed transmission and the result was like this: KTMvalityksetPIENI.jpg Looks it may be close, there is no wheel slip estimate and do not know how many faults there wer...

Re: PowerParts Adjustable levers ADV vs. SDR

Haha same - all my original parts go into ziplock bags where possible, and then into a storage tub. Whoever buys the GSX will need to come back in a car to grab the stock exhaust, flashers, grab-rail, etc etc... Me too. But then I stuff them somewhere and forget... Last time I found a new camchain ...

Re: PowerParts Adjustable levers ADV vs. SDR

I would have bought those PP ones but couldn't. The dealer told me there is not PP levers available now - but there are those others... So I quess if there is a reason to complaint I just go there where I bought the bike (my KTM dealer) and tell them, they were the ones who are those who might take ...

Re: Clutch drag - who has it?

My 2 cts... You don't actually need to take the bike out (there's snow here...) - just with cold bike (or room temp) on the rear paddock stand on, turn by right hand the rear wheel, then squeese the clutch in with the left hand and set the transmisson on 1st gear (by foot) and it feels like WHAT! He...

I had the same experience, our dealer told us there are no PP-levers available by now - but they recommended these http://dragrace.fi/Jarru-Kytkinvivut/Vivut-Vipuparit/KTM-1035/Vivut-Vipuparit-KTM-Saeaedettaevae-PituudensaeaetoeTaittuva-Dragrace.fi for my bike so I accepted the lower price... :D Tho...

Re: build quality/fit & finish

Thanks for the info and sharing your experiences. I really don't like the idea of spending £15K on a bike with poor build quality, but to be fair, all manufacturers experience quality issues, and it's how the dealer network supports you that can make or break the experience. I am hoping the 2017 mo...

Re: build quality/fit & finish

Couple of examples of a poor product. 1. Took my seat off to get to the battery. The seat staples have all dug into the tank paint so deep that it actually damaged the tank. 2. Of you take the side covers off and look underneath. There are surface areas of the tank that are unpainted intentionally....

Re: 1290 R transmission smooth or..?

Wife complained that there was some false neutrals so I adjusted the shift lever of her bike maybe 1-2mm lower and that's it...
