Re: New Oberon

Just fitted one on my GT to replace a twice replaced Magura. There have been various reports on KTM forums of owners struggling to bleed the slave. I would suggest reverse bleeding with a 60ml syringe and some PU tubing. Open the bleed nipple slightly and push fluid through until no more bubbles app...

Re: Any reliable SD-GT's out there?

I’ve had my GT for nearly 2 years now and have had various recalls done such as; fuel line, front brake MC, wear pad on swing arm etc. On a trip to Spain in 2017 the clutch slave cylinder failed and the bite point moved progressively back to the bar. This was replaced under warranty. I have just com...

Re: Now on my 5th KTM

Pleased to say the baffle is now out thanks to Alan at Road & Racing in Verwood. Still not as loud as the Evo's on my SMT but at least the Euro Gestapo have been foiled. Next mission; get rid of the cat and free up some more power.

Now on my 5th KTM

I finally relinquished my 990 SMT after 7 years of ownership and can probably look back at it being one of the best bikes I have owned. I had absolutely no problems with it whatsoever other than the slightly dodgy fuelling at low revs. So I bought a 1290 Superduke GT to replace it back in November f...

Re: New Superduke GT owner experiences.

Gents, very interesting comments regarding the GT. I finally found a dealer with a used one to test; no demos anywhere. I currently have a 59 plate SMT which I have had from new and has been a fabulous bike, probably the best all rounder I have owned however it is getting a bit long in the tooth and...

Re: What are the best heated grips?

I fitted some KTM Power Parts 60112964044 heated grips today. Fairly easy job but there are a few things to note in the process. Squirt some WD40 under the original Domino grips and they should slide off without cutting (as per KTM instructions). You then need to degrease the throttle tube and LH ha...

Re: KTM Roll Bag

Hi,

Could you tell me if the panniers in the photo below are the standard 990SMT ones and are they any good ?

Thanks

Crescent KTM

Some good news for KTM 990SMT owners in the South of England is that following the sad loss of Sideways in October 2010, Crescent at Verwood will be a KTM dealership and service centre from April 2011. Their mechanics have already been over to Austria for training and there is an orange hue appearin...

Re: Suspension Settings

I purchased the KTM preload adjuster which I have found extremely useful. There is a need to adjust the preload when traveling 2-up and solo. I have found the 11mm preload on the spring recommended by KTM and the sports settings for compression and rebound front and rear to be excellent for solo rid...

Re: Tyres

Sportsmarts have proved excellent, have done a recent trip to Spain and covered about 1800 miles in total since fitting. They have not squared off and I have managed to grind the soles of my wifes boots away in the process plus get my peg/boot down.

Re: Tyres

Bought the Dunlop SportSmart's a couple of weeks ago which are my first Dunlop's since some D207's on a YZF750 about 15 years ago and I must say I am very pleased with them. Good feedback, excellent grip and improved stability; a massive improvement on the Conti's. I ran Pilot Power 2CT's on my Supe...

Poor feedback on stock Contis (was : Tyres)

My SMT was delivered with Continental Attack's which were OK for about the first 1000 miles but I am not keen on them now. They seem to lack feedback and their wet grip is questionable. Has anyone else replaced them yet and if so, with what ? I am currently thinking about Bridgestone BT016's or the ...

Re: More power or just noise?

Got the Akra EVO's on mine and I think they are worth every penny, particularly as the fuelling improves dramatically. Definitely a significant increase in power as well; I would say 10% as a rough guess. The noise is also fantastic. Had Akra's on Mk1 Superduke which I then transferred onto a Mk2 bu...
