Re: Rear ended

You guys are real funny...... :D Rmauri - incident occurred on west bound 24 right after the Caldecott. I was taking the offramp for the 13 and the guy ran right up my tailpipe. And you're right, the incident has caused me to be even more aware of my surroundings. Gnosis - I'll look into the SAS rem...

Re: Rear ended

Hey by the way Gnosis you're just across the bridge from me. Give me shout sometime if you're up for a ride. Maybe we could get a few of us Bay Area folks together before the rains get here.

Re: Rear ended

I believe the dealer used the standard map for the Akra switch. It runs nice and smooth and has some minor popping on decel from higher RPMs. Kinda like what most seem to report after the Akra install. Not really certain on the exact map.

Re: Rear ended

Well, I picked up my repaired bike this morning and LOVE it. I ended up w/ the Akrapovic slip ons instead of the Remus due to availability. The sound and the look is amazing. I also had the shop install the KTM slipper clutch and what a difference it makes. KTM should've installed this from the fact...

Re: GPR cans

Had their full system on my Ducati and they sounded great, looked good and drew lots of admirers. I didn't think their header pipes were the best fitting (a bit generic), but overall a good bang for the buck.

Re: Rear ended

As a side note, this incident occurred on the freeway, not while stopped at a traffic light. I was coming up to some slowing traffic that was merging onto another freeway. Invariably people try to get as far forward as they can before cutting in at the last possible minute at this merger. The guy wh...

Re: Rear ended

No Range Rover, an old Toyota Avalon. When I left the scene, he was still trying to figure out how to attach his front bumper which was on the ground. I appreciate everyone's sentiments. I too am VERY thankful it wasn't worse than it was. Stopped into the dealer this weekend and the parts are on ord...

Re: Rear ended

The exhaust can alone was $1200.00. The subframe is another $700.00. The rear wheel and tire is another $1000.00.. Rear set, number plate hanger, and a bunch of other little parts.... The estimator also threw in the frame as a precaution. $1850.00 for that. PLUS the labor. It gets expensive quick.

Rear ended

Just got the insurance check from AAA. $7,751.00 for the damages to my two month old SMT after some idiot rear ended me last Friday. Thankfully I was able to keep the bike up and (thank God) came away w/ just a cut on my calf. Could've been a lot worse as the guy locked 'em up trying to slow down. A...

Re: New SMT owner. Ca. East Bay

Just throwing it out there, but I'm riding from the east bay down Hwy 1 to San Diego next Friday, Aug 2. Anyone looking to add some miles to their bike is certainly welcome to tag along. I've done the ride the past two years and if you haven't had the chance to ride hwy between Monterey and LA, you'...

Re: New SMT owner. Ca. East Bay

I think I saw that shop. Right on the 101 after you get over the bridge. I might stop in for a visit.
I'm partial to Nichol's Sportbike down in Milpitas. Mainly Ducati (I also have a Monster) but work on KTM and other makes. Awesome folks.

Regards.

New SMT owner. Ca. East Bay

Hi there. Just picked up a 2013 SMT on Saturday and am trying to break it in for a ride to San Diego and Las Vegas in two weeks. VERY fun bike so far and much more usable than my Monster. Look forward to learning more about this bike from this board and if anyone is ever in the SF Bay Area, look me ...
