Re: SMT is gone, Long live the SMT

The 1190 is a bit more bulky and when you drop it, it is a bitch to lift, but seriously, BEST BIKE EVER. ss well balanced and feels like a sub 600 when riding but power for days. There is something to be said about a former SMT hooligan that leaves the SMT in the barn for another bike, That being sa...

Re: Little bit of teething, but nothin major.

Speed limits? what are those? HAHAHHa well there are cameras all over Japan, but they only snap from the front so with a helmet and no front plate, bikers can blast through em at triple the speed with no worry. There are sometimes speed traps, but mostly in the same areas, there is a website that le...

Little bit of teething, but nothin major.

The problems so far, 1) Hot seat! man it really cooks, but still tolerable this time of year, and a rotti intake as well as a creamic coating on the headers seems to be the fix. 2) cold start, weak starter. First I got one that must have been in storage for a bit, they swapped my battery and thicker...

SMT is gone, Long live the SMT

Well as some of you know I picked up a 2015 1190 Adventure S this year and I still had the SMT in the barn, Well after a few months she was just sitting and only used once or twice when a friend felt like touring with me. I really have fallen in love with the big beastie so the little hooligan had t...

Re: Soft side bags used for sale

I was thinking of hitting the rough spots quickly with a flame to burn off the fuzz of the cloth, sand it or something then apply a spray on truck bed liner to make them look better as well as waterproof em, but as I said, this bike is out the door to make room in the barn.

Re: Soft side bags used for sale

I am currently in Japan, but I have US mail access as well so whichever shipping is cheaper I am willing to use. These are the OEM semi rigid bags. the ones on the ground in these photos. http://i861.photobucket.com/albums/ab176/noregretsallowed/20141205_144300_zps4b88e660.jpg http://i861.photobucke...

Soft side bags used for sale

Anybody interested? they are a bit worn and sun bleached, but I used them for when on trail and not worried about looks, but I got new bags and unfortunately I will be selling this bike next week to make room for my new 1988 Africa twin and with the 1190 Adventure in the barn I need space. Make an o...

Re: Auto tune tables

YAY another ADV owner!!! I have kind of been wondering as well. with my 990 SMT I used one of KEVTEX maps specific to the parts I installed, but from what I hear lately the cable will not work on the new bike due to some new wiring, also not sure how it would affect the separate modes. Personally th...

Re: Potential KTM owner

While I think the Duke's are amazing bikes, I personally am physically more comfortable on the SMT. I would get out and give it a ride before you decide though.

I had the fuel pump go out early on, also the lower head bearing seized, wasn't a speck of grease on the thing when I pulled it. Might want to get in there and lube it.

If you want to turn it off straight away after you fill up, hold down the center button on the display for a few seconds, turns it right off.
