Re: Headlight bulb keeps burning out?

The plastic connector showed signs of overheating. When I pulled it off, one of the bulb connecting blade was stuck in it. The high beam indicator was also on. At this point I'm thinking maybe a short in the bulb itself? I haven't measured the voltage across the battery yet. But if it was too high, ...

Headlight bulb keeps burning out?

Anybody else having issue with the headlight bulb burning out? I'm not sure when it started, but lately I burn out the headlight pretty much every week. It doesn't happen right away, and it is just the headlight. So maybe more of a mechanical issue (vibrations) than an electrical one? Today the high...

Same pain in the ass to do an oil change as on the SMT, or did they make it easier?

Re: What did you do to your ktm today?

After removing the SAS and secondary flies, replacing the OEM airbox with an ITG filter with RC8/SMT stack combo , replaced OEM exhaust with the Wings titanium jobbies and finally installed the #18 ECUTune . I buttoned up the bike, tweeked all suspension settings to 'sport' as per the owners manual...

Can we see a pic of the rear? I'm curious about the "custom tail tidy"
And with a pic from the side we might be able to tell if it has a custom airbox.

Intake/exhaust mods and low octane map?

So as I was reading the manual (I know what an odd thing to do  ) I see an entry titled " Ignition curve plug-in connector " (to be used for at most 1 gas tank) Never knew the SMT had one of those. Does that just retard the ignition, or is there a second map stored in the ECU? And in the later...

Re: Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps

Hi Jrutgers, When you say that the BT dongle is "connected to the ECU", do you mean through an OBDII plug ? I'm trying to use an OBDII data logger on my SMT, using the OBDII plug which is in the middle of the tuneECU cable, and it does not work for me. Might be a problem with the cable not being gr...

I have PR4 on mine, and no weave (up to 135mph)
I really enjoy these tires BTW. Super smooth and predictable.

Re: Why can't I ride my new bike? New SMT owner.

I bought a 2013 seat because I liked the texture better. I was planning on using the original seat pan to experiment with more foam and different shapes, but the 2013 seat is feeling better and better so I haven't gone any further. I think it is like a pair of jeans. Use them long enough and they ad...

Who was the dealer, ELite in Loveland? I have bought 2 bikes from them (including my white 2012 SMT :D ) and they are first class.

Re: I won't be recommending PR3s anymore

I've had my PR4s installed but I haven't really got a chance to really try them out. I did ride a few blocks to work and one obvious difference is in low speed turns. We have a pretty tight roundabout and before the bike wanted to fall in and the front felt like it wanted to overturn (not sure the e...

Re: Which cylinder is which?

Yep, rear cylinder is 1:
From http://tuneecu.com/TuneECU_En/mapedit.html

For KTM User:
TuneECU follows the KTM convention, and commits the Trim 1 to F1 (F1 in TuneECU = rear cylinder).

Re: I won't be recommending PR3s anymore

Around $265 would get you the PR2 from motorcycle super store. More mile-less money :D A PR2 set from rockymountainmc would be $233.98. But from what I've read, the PR4 would be a bit better in the rain. Not that I usually ride in the wet, but in Colorado a change in weather can happen from one tur...
