Why does my bike suck gas!

Must be something wrong there Duckman, I know USA gallons are smaller than eu but not that much smaller. I get 44mpg local hooning and 47 cruising 75-80 stock bike. I agree but what? The bike runs great. I have a friend that lives up in the Chicago area (I'm in Houston) but I think our fuels are si...

Why does my bike suck gas!

44 mpg! Jezebel! How do you do it? Stone stock I would go 130 miles to reserve, about 32-33 mpg. And now with Pipes and any map I try I get the same. And this is basically cruising. Shifting at 4-5k and never going over 6k. On one occasion I did a couple thousand miles on strictly highways at cruisi...

Which oil to use

It just amazes me that people still try to second guess dozens of engineers that spent millions of dollars and thousands of hours designing and building an engine. Do you really thing their recommendation of what oil to use was just a fart in the wind. Amazing. :) Companies are out to make profits ...

Which oil to use

The fueling on my speed triple and my wifes Honda is perfect. I assume they had to meet the same requirements. It really is harder to make make a large bore V twin perform on par with three or four cylinder engines and still meet the environmental requirements. Just be glad the tree huggers haven't...

Which oil to use

The lean fueling and resultant problems are there because of the politicians running our governments, not the people who design our bikes. Big difference there.

HP why so low?

I don't get this "infamous 220 kph" thing. I know someone :) that's been there several times and claims its no big deal. Now he did tell me he had to be smooth on the 5th to 6th shift but after that he said he took his left hand off the bars and put it up around the tank for better aero (what ever t...

Why does my bike suck gas!

I love my bike. I love the way it runs and drives. I can afford to put gas in it no matter what it cost. But why does this bike suck gas so bad? Stock, modified, whatever it still guzzles gas. My tail pipes are a nice lean looking caramel color. My 999 Ducati puts out 20 more hp and the pipes are sm...

Canisterectomy stuff

While performing my canisterectomy I found my low octane fuel connector way back in a bundle if wires but also this. I'm wondering what it is and why it's not capped? Any ideas?

Re: Finally mounted up the Leo's.

Oh yeah, one more ugly piece of poop for the garbage can! :D

And by my bathroom scale the bike is now about 17 lbs lighter thanks to the Leo's and a Shorai battery. The difference is very noticeable.

Re: Finally mounted up the Leo's.

Did you have any issue with mounting them though? Some are saying that they don't fit properly on the SMT due to the brackets going on in an angle? What did you find? Leo Vince 8414 exhausts out of the box and on with zero issues or did you need to get creative? TIA Yes, the hangers are not exactly...

Finally mounted up the Leo's.

And couldn't be happier. The sound is fantastic with the db eaters in. Quieter than I was expecting and much quieter than my Ducs. I took it out for a ride with the modified Kev#15 I've been using and it runs great! Actually better below 5000 revs. It does seem a little flat around 7000-8000 but wil...

Proper way to check oil

IMO since its a dry sump system the level in the tank really isn't critical. As long as the level is between the min and max line at operating temp it's good. Just starting the bike and running up to 6 bars on the temp gauge is not warmed up. It takes a good while to get the oil temp up to normal. ...

Fuel tank capacity: not 5 gallons?

In the first 4000 miles mine used a little. Level in the site glass dropped about 1/4". But on fuel I only get about 130 miles on 4 gallons (US).

Fuel tank capacity: not 5 gallons?

Thanks, that was it - both were closed. Was wondering why reserve light went on at 130 miles and fill up was less than 4 gallons. Thought it had a huge reserve. If both were closed, you'd have a range of about ten feet. I believe the two valves only shut off access to the right lower tank. The fuel...

I chose the cheapest route incase I screwed it up. The flange cost $4 and the gas cap $190. :)

Fuel cap increasingly difficult to remove/insert, 2011.

I took a different approach. I removed the black plastic base from the tank and slightly enlarged the opening with my finger and a bit of sandpaper. The scariest part of going this is getting the screws in and out without dropping one into the tank. :)
