Has anybody managed to fit a remote preload adjuster to their standard shock?

2017 steering bearings settings

Anyone have the details on setting up the steering head bearings, torque setting, etc. As they have changed from taper rollers to ball bearing for the 17 on model and my service manual is for the earlier model.

Re: 2018 TFT Display Odometers/Fuel Consumption/Range

Did 40 miles tonight with the sat nav to compare mileage and filled up while I was out to compare the trip computer mpg estimate. The mileage was 2.5% high and the mpg was 4 mpg high. The mph reads about 7% high. When I brought the bike and it had the standard exhaust and it was 10mpg high, it seems...

Remote pre load adjuster

Has anyone managed to fit a remote preload adjuster to the standard shock or is complete shock replacement the only way to go?

Re: Puig windscreen

Nope went straight on.

Plus I made up a bracket to mount my sat nav above the clocks which does not come above the top of the screen. When the snow has gone, I'll get the bike out, take a couple of pictures and post.

Re: Electronic Cruise control for SMt?!

Surging. I found mine very surgy to start with but realised I had too much slack in the cable. Because the difference between a car and bike is the response, engine spins up faster, bike is lighter, it will still surge slightly. You can reduce this by running a gear higher than normal when crusing, ...

Re: How much louder is a Rottweiler than the stock intake?

Loud. I always wear ear plugs now and my mates have complained when riding with me. I did take someone on the back once, but she's refused to go again, complaining it's too loud (though it could be she just doesn't like me).

Re: Electronic Cruise control for SMt?!

I fitted a car universal after market kit to my SMT and it works fairly well. It is a vacum kit, so the biggest issue is going to be where to put the vacum pod, mine doesnt have abs, so I sited it where the abs pump would go.

Re: Puig windscreen

Not nice. I put the earlier version puig for the 2014-16 model on my 17, I felt it looked nicer and since I already had one, cheaper.

Re: Slip Adjustment

From memory, cause I havn't ridden mine recently, once you are in the right mode, you go up and down using the up/down keys on the left hand switch gear.

Re: RC8R 2012

I had one, sold it after I brought a 1290 as I wasn't using it. Apart form the usual KTM issues, clutch master cylinder, petrol leak on tank due to distortion, the only issue I had which I couldn't sort was occasional false neutrals when going for it. Apart from that I found it lovely after a S1000R...

Re: To wheelie or not to wheelie

I dont think my 2017 wheelies as well as my 2015. The anti wheelie on the 2017 is definately better at its job than the earlier model.

Re: Headlight bulb keeps burning out?

My last headlight bulb blowing was vibration because I found a loose screw in the inner fairing. As well as checking for that, may be worth measuring the voltage across the battery with the engine running, shouldn't go above 14.5V, even if you rev to 5000 rpm otherwise your regulator has gone.

Re: 2017 Superduke R Clutch Maintenance/Issues

Finding neutral will get easier, once the bike has a few miles on it. My 2017 is not great at the mo because it is so low mileage. My 2015 which I just sold was fine but that had 15000miles on it. The clutch was an issue with slipping on the earlier models but they've uprated the springs for this on...

Re: What mpg

Mine has the full Akra system on and does 37 to 44 playing/commuting and 50 long distance touring. Did get 56mpg using 98 oct fuel touring once because there was only 95 E10 available but not tried any high octaine stuff since.

But that is UK gallons, which is 20% bigger then US gallons.

Loose like that on a floating caliper is good, not loose means seized, not good.
