Re: Engine breaking down at high RPM

I also now have 50,000kms on the smt. Ive replaced the fuel filters twice. Once at 5k and at 20k. Its been fine since. When was your fuel filter replaced? Old spark plug can fail under load but much rarer.

Re: LED Headlight

I just ordered the new cyclops H4 LED. Its now listed in the Dual sport area of the website. supposedly its redesign was to help with day to day traffic. I will post some before and after pictures of the beam pattern.

Re: Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps

By the way, Wrath and Mickey, what is your own experience with the jerky behavior on a hint of throttle ? Looks like your setup is the same as mine, and you are using #20. I would say my jerky throttle is gone now. I even run a 10% larger throttle cam. I would never have thought i could do that whe...

Re: Tune ECU custom map for easy breathing with standard can

Kev and guys Has any one experimented with the breathing mods but keeping standard cans? I need to be a bit quieter :o and lose the unburnt petrol smell :? for work purposes. So I wondered if MWR airbox, RC8 stack and no 2ndry flies could work with standard cans? Any idea on the best map to start w...

Re: Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps

+1 prior to selling my SMT I had done all these mods and loaded Map #20. Very smooth from 2500prm to redline. Felt like a different motor compared to the stock bike I started with. +2. I am running map #20 with all the mods except i still have stock exhaust and it is the smoothest it have ever been...

Re: Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps

First I've heard of the knock, can you tell me more? Its not a mechanical knock. it is a sound like a knock when you remove the airbox. It disappears about 4000 rpm. I think that the normal air intake process is amplified at low rpm and creates the sound. I always wear earplugs and don't notice it ...

Opening the secondary flies 100% in tune ecu or removing them doesn't have anything to do with the low rpm "knock" that presents itself when an aftermarket free breathing airboc or filter is used.

Yes its the best first free mod to do. It also reduces a bit of engine braking that also helps smooth things out.

Re: Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps

Does anyone know if the secondary butterflies can be disabled with the TuneECU alone? For some reason I thought I remember reading that. Yes you can. But you cannot disable the secondary butterflies in TuneECU unless you have removed them physically. What you can do in tune ecu is choose a m...

Re: Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps

yes thats kinda like the knocking sound they make with an open air filter. a bit un-nerving and annoying at first. believe it or not you get used to it......

Re: Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps

Maybe it has been mentioned already on this forum, but anyway; i found this regarding the snatchy throttle: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=787689&page=6 Just recently Zuber mentioned the following on this forum: I think the root problem is the stock ignition maps. It has a huge ignitio...

Re: My take on the G2 Tamer Throttle Tube

Originally I did Kev's 30% slower/40%faster mod to the oem throttle. It's perfect really, no need to change. But I have to change things.....so I now have the g2 tamer with the Short/long stacks with map#20. I agree with downboysit that it's a bit docile at small throttle openings.....so in step wi...

Interesting....i have done 20000miles in just over 2 years. Similar rides as Ogden but only 2 trackdays and me thinks im not as aggresive a rider as he. 5 services all done by me (including two valve checks, where shims were needed) 20 litres of oil, on second set of pads, second chain and sprockets...

I do all my own maintenance so am a bit biased. Assuming your valves have been checked twice already i would recommend just checking your air filter and save your money. From this mileage on its chains and sprockets and oil and filters.....and anything that presents itself as loose or out of spec.

When i bought my 2011 i remember reading that ktm increased the front fork spring rate and changed damping slightly for 2011. I find running 35 psi in the front perfect. anything less and it starts to feel strange or spongy and that dreaded fall into a turn feeling.
