Re: Heat Shield

Yes, the cat is still on there. Have to check to see if it'll void any warranty if I start removing bits. Would love to trash that piece for sure and put on a remus link and can as well. Took it out for a bit of a run and was really hard to tell if this helped at all or it was just my imagination th...

Re: Heat Shield

Ok, just tried to mock up something real quick to see if it works. Figured most of the heat was coming from one area right onto the inner thigh. Put some sticky aluminum repair tape and then a black rubber scrap over top to cover and insulate. Will see how this goes.

Re: Heat Shield

Yup, looks like a silver wrap is on there. I use 92-94 octane here. Heat seems to be coming up from around the front of the seat from the engine so will have to see if i can try to jimmy some type of deflector on either side high up on the trellis frame to see if that helps at all. Otherwise asbesto...

Heat Shield

Just got back from 2k trip in BC. Roads were great, weather was hot (27C). One of the main issues was my legs were cooking from the engine heat. Had to ride with them splayed out to get some wind to them. Anyone here adapt some sort of a heat shield yet :?: . It was like a blow dryer aimed at your i...

Re: BC Canada 1290 guys

Hi guys, finally remembered my password and login :D . I swear my memory is shot these days. Anyway just got back from a great trip through Princeton up to Kaslo, Creston, Balfour, Needles etc. and down the canyon. First long ride, about 2000km with the GT. Saw this post too late to hook up, but wil...

Re: Where is the horn?

Looking forward to any creative solutions (along with photos of course ;-) you come up with as this is a mod I was considering as well. Doesn't seem to be a whole lot of places on the bike though. Good luck.

Re: Denali d4 driving lights on a GT

Couple of pics with the big Denali D4s. Didn't have to remove the gas tank but took me awhile to find places where I could fish that big bundle of wires through a space on top of the radiator left side. Side panels weren't necessary to take off just loosened up to see. Started by attaching the switc...

Re: Denali d4 driving lights on a GT

Ya, I did it the hard way as usual. Those D4's have a pretty thick and unwieldy wiring harness. I opted to not splice into any switched wires. Ended up starting by anchoring the lightswitch on the handlebar first then fishing the back end of the harness through the front of the bike towards the batt...

Re: Hello from Vancouver, BC

Welcome to the forum. Obviously I own a GT and I live in Nanaimo. The forum is a good site to gain inside information on these bikes; however, not all of your questions can be answered here so if you want some information regarding upgrades or retrofits, feel free to ask me. A lot of the work I did...

Re: Denali d4 driving lights on a GT

I recommend not taking the tank off. I was able to run wires under the side panels by taking them off. I had to have work done at the dealer that involved them taking the tank off. When I took the bike in they thought it was gong to be a simple 30 minute job and did not know the tank would have to ...

pdm 60 location

Noticed a few people make reference to having the pdm 60. I've had one sitting around for a couple of years now, was going to install on my old bike but never got around to it (now sold). Thought I'd try on the GT but real estate is pretty tight. For those using it (and haven't taken the vacuum hose...

Denali d4 driving lights on a GT

Hi all, anyone here install these puppies on their GT? Got them the other day along with mounts for my motech crash bars. This is my first experience with leds, seem to be pretty heavy units compared to my old piaa 55w halogens. They have good ratings, (old eyes need lots of light 8-) just not sure ...

Hello from Vancouver, BC

Hi all, finally pulled the trigger on a 2017 grey SDGT after looking at several other bikes, still breaking it in but love it so far. Doing some typical mods, lights, horn, crash bars, pan guard, windscreen, etc. Haven't seen any GT's in my travels yet but will keep an eye out.
Rubber side down. :D
