Re: Well That Was a Surprise...
Nice Bike DaveNZ. I like that little naked. AuDave, good to see you. I too was having a problem getting onto this site when I first tried. Yeah, I felt left out so I had to tag along with you and double J :D Are you not riding because of your shoulder or the heart surgery? Let me talk to you docs. I...

Re: Well That Was a Surprise...
I have heard some bad dental stories over the past few weeks. Botched root canals and abscesses at the core of it.
Speaking of Dave (Aus), where has that cheeky monkey been lately?

Re: Well That Was a Surprise...
Great longevity in your family which is good. Now that you're "fixed" a proper diet should keep you good. Well if it was six weeks for you it should be the same for me I imagine. Perhaps that extra two weeks is a safety buffer. Or maybe based on my density/size etc.? I had a great surgeon as well. A...

Re: Well That Was a Surprise...
Interesting. Six weeks eh? I got the approval to drive short distances this past thursday which was 4 weeks form the day of surgery but they said no long distance or highway driving for another month, and to stay out of traffic. This warfarin seems to be a problem. You virtually can't eat anything g...

Re: Well That Was a Surprise...
I had the opposite weather problem. Mine was in August in Houston. You cannot underestimate the heat and humidity in Houston...24 hours a day, every day for Five months! Am I riding??? I started riding at about ten weeks after my surgery. I retired Dec.31 and I typically ride four days a week now. ...

Re: Well That Was a Surprise...
I'm sorry to hear your missfortunate Rock. But yes, I know exactly what you are going through. I just had my six month anniversary a few days ago and I'm doing fantastic. I can honestly tell you that my recovery went very well. The secret for me was a very positive attitude and sense of humor. I al...

Re: Well That Was a Surprise...
Good luck Rock, hope the opp to repair the damage went well. Un-fortunatly things do happen in threes, and your the third, there is a silver lining tho, i can stop worrying about me being the third. :D Thanks Dave. You're in the clear. Though rumor has it your riddled with STDs so don't start celeb...

Re: Well That Was a Surprise...
So I guess things come in threes. I just had emergency open heart four weeks ago. Apparently I tore a valve in half somehow. No one knows how. The only plausible theory is bad dental work when I had a nasty abscess/jaw infection from a botched root canal three years ago. But if not that they had no ...

Re: Dash blanked out after stall and restart
It's amazing how much more power you can get out of that 1045 I-4. I don't know if I will go full akra as I have to be somewhat judicious with the modding costs, but I will do some power mod. I think my most major mod with be the rear shock. There's something about the Ninja that keeps me coming bac...

Re: Dash blanked out after stall and restart
The issue I had with my last NInja was comfort but Rizoma makes a great adjustable rear-set peg kit for it now. I also have contacted a shop that customizes the stock seat to make it livable. That will take care of the comfort for the most part. It won't be as roomy as the GT but will be good enough...

Re: Dash blanked out after stall and restart
Had another look at the 'fuse box' and there are different height fuses in the centre positions with shorter ones to the outside positions....... so unless they are loose, the step up in the centre is not an issue. My GT fired up nice (as always)...... now if I can just get my body to work as well ...

Re: Dash blanked out after stall and restart
Just had a thought bubble.. :o .... happens a lot at my age.... Over on the Caponord 1200 & RSV4 forums they are talking about dash blanking out (particularly on a hot start) and one tech guy added an extra wire from his battery to the starter motor....... this is an old trick and was based o...

Re: Dash blanked out after stall and restart
I think my bike may have come from another dealer to my dealer prepped. There was allot of loose stuff on my bike that left the KTM tech scratching his head, which led me to believe he didn't uncrate it. The bikes been well behaved since Saturday. I know they said my ground wire was loose, there was...

Re: Dash blanked out after stall and restart
Wow Dave I feel like we should pay you for your research and report :D Thank you sir! I think I'm okay with point one as I have run her down pretty low according to the gauge and not run out. Although I have not done the filter or injectors favors by running low. As to ethanol, unfortunately it's un...

Re: Cold starting
Mick I'm having the same issues, and more, even after installing a new battery the other day. This bike does not like the cold. My dealer is useless as well and a good distance from me. Like you I'm starting to regret I bought the bike. My bike is stalling, blanking out, then flashing check engine w...

Re: Dash blanked out after stall and restart
It seems as though you guys are having allot less problems over in Oz and NZed, so maybe this battery is border like like you say ADave. NZDave it has been under 5 degree celsius here lately at night. Damp too from snow and rain. With the heavy weight oil maybe enough to kill a 6 month old battery. ...

Re: Dash blanked out after stall and restart
Dave, this bike definitely has parasitic draws. Stuff is happening when the bike is off. I've let bikes sit in the snow for a week and they've started. this bike is a little tough and it seems for most all of us. I think once it's under 50 degrees consistently things change. I've read elsewhere that...
