Re: Drop in oil pressure during high speed running.

Elvis, thanks for the extra info on the clutch basket. I guess that rules out that theory. Your observation on the revised drive gear is looking more like the correct conclusion. Weak part - Update with strong part...Deny everything. To the other part of my post: 65 here and riding harder and better...

Re: Drop in oil pressure during high speed running.

Elvis, is it possible that the clutch basket nut had become loose? Just a thought, but this could have led to the gear becoming partially disengaged causing a massive side load on it as it got jammed by the driven gear on the oil pump. That certainly could have snapped the gear in half. Have you che...

Re: Faded SMT Soft Pannier Side Bags

Thanks for the response. I guess I missed that one. I searched for fade and faded but not fading. Oh well, I thought about using the Rit dye method but the synthetic fabric dye method called for heating the mixture and dipping the fabric. I just wasn't sure about how it would work brushing it on, wi...

Faded SMT Soft Pannier Side Bags

It must be common knowledge by now that the original soft side panniers become faded by the sun very quickly. The most common solution seems to be to replace them with new original panniers or something else. If KTM eventually came out with a UV stabilized dye, then an oem replacement would be fine....

Re: Throttle Body Balance

Just wanted to follow up with an update to close out this thread. I solved my throttle body balance and vibration problem by uploading TuneEcu Jeff map #18 by Kev. I left my secondaries in and set them to 100% open across the whole range. I added 2% fuel from 1800-5000 rpm just to be safe. Very occa...

Re: Throttle Body Balance

The standard 990SD and the 990SMT share the same throttle body and probably most other engine parts, but the 990SDR does not. Throttle bodies, cams, ignition and exhaust valves are different on the SDR. I am going to try loading one of the existing SMT maps for secondary flies removed and just set m...

Re: Throttle Body Balance

Any reason why you couldn't use the 990 SD map on your 990 SMT ? (provided you follow all the mods associated with that SD map) Actually, I have never heard of anyone attempting to crossbreed maps between different species of KTM. It might be possible if I had a Dynojet V5 and Autotune to massage a...

Re: Throttle Body Balance

Thanks for your input. I am going through those suggestions one by one. I am also getting more familiar with TuneEcu, and realized that if I want to try a different map I'll have to remove the secondary flies. I find it odd that I can get a .hex map for my 990 SDR with secondaries at 100% open (not ...

Re: Throttle Body Balance

Let me rephrase my question: How do you manually balance throttle bodies on a stock bike with the secondary butterflies in place? Wouldn't the secondaries being almost closed give a false reading to the balance?

Throttle Body Balance

I just installed a Rottweiler air filter and SAS block off on my 2010 SMT. Since there are not very many US participants in the TuneEcu thread, I just started off with the 2011 Akra map to see how it felt. The bike already had Akra slipons without baffles. The Akra map actually worked really well wi...

Re: Akrapovic Noise Reduction Insert

I contacted Jeff at Pipe Werx and he can ship to the US for a decent price. Unfortunately, the EU standard for this exhaust insert is a 47mm OD and my Akrapovic is 48mm OD, which would make this one too loose. The good news is that he can make a custom pair of 48mm inserts for just a bit more. I wil...

Re: Akrapovic Noise Reduction Insert

Thanks for the info. That would definitely work. I haven't seen anything like that Stateside. I'll check what it would cost to have a pair sent over here.

Akrapovic Noise Reduction Insert

I bought a used 2010 SMT with Akrapovic exhaust marked M-KTMB02 that have no dbkillers (noise reduction inserts). I am trying to figure out how to find some to buy, but there is no information about this exhaust on either the Akrapovic or any KTM websites that I can find. They are the 48mm round sty...
