Re: Faded SMT Soft Pannier Side Bags

Are they different than the PP bags for other bikes? Check this thread, the guy uses Rit Dye with pretty decent results:

I haven't actually done it, but probably will soon.

Replacing 17mm chain tension bolt.

Hi all- Over the course of countless chain adjustments, sprocket removals, etc, I have started to round off the bolt that we loosen in order to adjust chain tension. Part # 13 here: https://www.motosport.com/motorcycle/oem-parts/ktm/2014/1290-superduke-r-black/swing-arm?fam=Chassis I always seem to ...

Re: Bike intermittently losing power won't rev past 5.5k

Glad to hear that! Yeah, please do let me know what you find!! Post some pics if ya can. Mine is back at the dealer for its scheduled valve inspection/adjustment. I didn't have time to take the tank off and inspect the fuel pump and filters before dropping it off this week. I asked them to take a lo...

Re: Bike intermittently losing power won't rev past 5.5k

Gearhead- Hope your trip is going well and the bike is behaving lately. I've been commuting on mine all week and taken a few 1-2 hour rides for fun without any issue. I did stumble on this thread from the 1290GT forum. Kind of interesting, maybe the same issue? They cleaned the fuel filters and got ...

Re: Horn has stopped working.

Relocating the horn further away from the radiator (less hot) fixed my horn issue. Prior to that it would stop working if the engine temp was higher than 185F.

Re: Bike intermittently losing power won't rev past 5.5k

Gearhead- That's a remarkable coincidence... Same general area of the world, same issue at same RPM in the same week... Very interesting. What, if any, mods have you done to your bike? Do you still have the original battery from 2014 in it? How many miles on the odometer? It's gotta be somehow relat...

Bike intermittently losing power won't rev past 5.5k

Call me Ishmael. Some years ago--... Just kidding, this isn't quite as long as Moby Dick. This past weekend I went on a 3 day organized moto-camping rally through Oregon. I did about 1,100 miles over 3 days. My bike started intermittently losing power, sometimes dying, while cruising along at a dece...

Re: What's this hose for?

I'm silly. I found my answer after reading through several threads here, revisiting the old airbox, and reviewing the Rottweiler supplied directions again. The mystery hose is simply a drain line for the stock airbox, which is now sitting in the trash can per Rottweiler directions. The part shows up...

What's this hose for?

PHOTOS! https://imgur.com/a/8wnpogF Over the weekend I decided to do an SAS removal, charcoal can removal and fit a new airbox. I'm all done now, just waiting for the new filter oil to dry, and then will re-install everything. However, I found a mystery hose, and its making me have a lot of questio...

Re: ABS kicking in & rotor hot after re-assembling rear wheel/axle

Thank you Kev, I did that, took it for a spin and it seemed to behave better. Still would love to get ahold of a set of your rings for next time I have the bike apart.

ABS kicking in & rotor hot after re-assembling rear wheel/axle

I just got new tires and reinstalled the front and rear wheel again. I've done this job several times now. After reinstalled I went for a spin, literally around the block. I tried braking reasonably hard with front brakes -fine, rear brakes however had the ABS kick in wayyy before I feel like it nor...

Re: Help me pick next mod

Ya'll sold me. I added a Rottweiler stage 4 intake + Rottweiler stage 2 emissions removal to my cart on Sunday night. I had to drink 3 beers to find the gusto to hit the submit order button... My wallet says ouch, but my soul says yes! Let's see what on the bike I can break when doing the install!! ...

Re: Sheared off oil filter cap screw

Well, I've tried everything that I'm comfortable trying here in my very amateur workshop. Went and got a punch, got some titanium drill bits, some left handed drill bits, several sizes of easy-outs... I dunno. Tow truck is on the way, dealer is expecting it. Spoke with them on the phone about contin...

Sheared off oil filter cap screw

I must be the village idiot. After spilling a bunch of oil all over my drive way, I continued on with the oil change on my '14 1290R. I drained all the oil (much of it overflowing from the collection cannister), put my new filter in, and then got ready to re-torque all the bolts and fill with fresh ...

Re: Front Brakes noise (video)

That's incredible it worked for you two. I changed to PowerParts Galfer wave rotors and the noise came back after the first test-ride I took with the new pads and rotors. Bummer. Oh well, I'm about done pouring money into solving this issue. The wavy rotors look give the bike a nice look though!

What oil are you guys running? Summer vs winter?

As a 1290 owner in the states, it seems that most of the substances KTM recommends are somewhat difficult to source locally. I'm happy to order online if I need to, but was just wondering what others are using, or have used, and with what results. It's just about Spring here in the Pacific NW United...

Re: Wanting to buy new rotors.. Power Parts versus Galfers?

Did you follow the procedure in the FSM about seating the brake calipers so they are centered? I followed it to the best of my understanding. Here's what I did.. I pushed the pistons as far back into their bores as far as I could. I then fit the new brake pads into the caliper. I slid the caliper i...

Re: Wanting to buy new rotors.. Power Parts versus Galfers?

I finally got the project finished. Inspected my wheel's front rotor landings , installed front and rear PP Galfers, calipers thoroughly cleaned, a new rear tire, new EBC HH pads front and rear, and the brakes bled. I finished everything up this afternoon and took the bike for a quick spin just to s...
