Get used to to it. No way to change it.
Yup. It's the one thing that my SDGT has in common with my DR-Z400S.

Re: ABBA Skylift stand

I have the regular ABBA lift, with the attachment for front wheel lift. Much less expensive than the Sky Lift, but still gives me the ability to change my own tires.

In my experience, a more apt term would be "ticket detector".
YMMV

Re: Anyone try National Cycle V-Steam wind screen.

Yes but it doesn't fit shipped with hardware that has American thread pitch vs metric Attempted to install & was perplexed as it is very close had someone I know who is an industrial designer check out & yup wrong thread pitch on male end of spacers Is that the National Cycle one you refer to as ha...

Did you get the fuel pump recall done as well Russ?
I know nothing of a fuel pump recall??? Tony did not mention it. Maybe only on the grey ones? Lol
My dealer said it was a fuel line (not pump) recall. But mine's a 2016, so maybe that's the difference.

Re: Bag gaskets

Does anyone else has the same issue I have with the factory bags? You open them and the gaskets get pulled out, having me to poke them back into place. Could glue them. Any other ideas? My left bag gasket was repaired (probably "re-glued") under one of my 7 warranty claims thus far (7 months, 5,000...

Re: Side stand foot pad

It is curious that foot pads for <$10 can be had for every KTM bike made...EXCEPT the super dukes. Wonder why that is? Could it be that little spur thing (the one that keeps breaking off)? Need a pad for your super adventure? Not a problem! Take your pick from lots of vendors. $9.95, and free shippi...

Purely for the name because they are not cheap, being powder coated stainless steel... http://www.adventureparts.co.uk/images/toe%20stand%20for%20bike%20camel%20toe%20ktm%20bmw%20adventure%2033-crop-u10604.jpg Looks like a great product. Alas, they do not offer one for for the SDR or SDGT...adventu...

Re: Seven warranty claims, and counting

Looking forward to a tour of Spain this summer, here's hoping the pannier are stronger than they look. Do people think the 2017 models are improved to overcome the original design flaws? Kinda doubt there was any change whatsoever. My 2016 bags, except for the loose weather seal (now fixed), seem O...

Re: Seven warranty claims, and counting

Flapper is a lousy design. I think the bags are inherently flawed and I'm not even sure if they replaced them that I'd be in any better shape. My bags like to shed the weatherstripping and have big gaps in the front of them. That said, I absolutely love riding this bike. I don't think there's anyth...

Seven warranty claims, and counting

In seven months of ownership, Ive had seven warranty claims so far on my 2016 SDGT: Fuel line, Side stand spur, Side stand itself, Side case weather strip, Fuel range in miles, but showing kms, Speedo/odo not working, and MTC error from exhaust flapper servo motor. In all my previous years of motorc...

Re: Fuel range displayed

The range on my bike is pretty accurate. In fact, I've checked my average mpg several times and it's always been within one mpg, and twice I've gotten better mileage than the readout on the bike. Good to hear the dealer was able to fix yours. I've noticed that my fuel range display must be just tha...

Side stand foot pad

Looking for a bolt-on pad to help prevent the side stand foot from sinking into hot asphalt this summer. Lots of cheap stuff for under $10 bucks from China for the KTM Adventure bikes, and all the bikes up to 990...but nothing for the 1290 Super Dukes. I'm not ready to pay $70 bucks for the SW Motec...

The Admore Mini Rear Brake Light & turn signal ( https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/admore-led-mini-light-bar ) is connected to a PDM-60. That is outside the bikes Can-Bus. I guess you could connect the power to one of the two accessory lines that are under the rear seat?? Best, Doc :) :) Best I r...

Re: License plate holder

Hey, Doc: Did your Admore light bar cause any conflicts with the CANBUS system? I had a similr ligjt bar on a prior bike, and liked it. Will maybe add one to this bike...worried about splicing and CANBUS, tho. BTW, I see you are in Sumter...my ancestors came from Ninety-Six; just up the road a piece...

Easiest tire change ever!

Wore out my OEM rear tire in 4200 miles, so I installed another Angel GT today. I had not changed a tire on the SDGT before, so I didn't know what to expect. Turned out to be the easiest tire change ever. Two bolts to remove the muffler, then used my impact wrench to loosen the 60 mm nut. Wheel came...

Re: Diameter of bars?

I installed the Rox risers just now...very easy, plenty of cable slack. If it wasn't 31° and snowing, I'd go for a ride. Supposed to be 70° and sunny tomorrow...maybe try
'em out then.

Raise bike with jack under cat?

While my SDGT was at the dealership for the brake recall work, I happened to get a glimpse into the service area. I was surprised to see my bike's rear wheel being lowered to the floor with a scissors type jack under the catalytic converter. I meant to ask the tech about it, but forgot when I got th...
