Back in the fold!!

Well, I used to be very active on this forum when I had my 990SMT and, as of Saturday, I am back with my new (to me) 1190R!!

There are definitely 2 types of those rails, there must have been a change on the SM at some point. I think I still have the wrong rails knocking around my garage somewhere. Just to confirm - you have removed the soft luggage mounts and you want to add the SM heat shields? If so then you need to buy the SM support rails that hold the rear panels. the part numbers are listed somewhere on this forum.

At a guess, from how you have described it, you have bought the wrong rails (I did that first time). there was a change and the holes aren't the same.

Make sure you have the exact part number for the replacement rails

I did try the touring screen for a couple of days and I found it very prone to vibration and flex. The Givi screen is way more rigid, even with the aero blade fitted.

Looks to me like it's designed to go on the pillion seat (curved base).
