Re: SMT gone - New Super Adventure

KTM asked the dealer to check certain things and report back to them, which they did. The dealer agreed that it was unstable above 120 mph and potentially dangerous. The dealer suggested that using Michellin PR4 Trail tyres have helped other customer so I put them on and found it made a great differ...

Re: Anyone made their own 1190 Rad protector?

Just got one for my 1290 SA and it went on no problem in about 10 minutes. Looks the dogs for less than a tenner!

Re: 1290 Super Adventure speed wobble

Well, still no word back from KTM about solving the speed wobble problem. A bit disappointed to say the least. After talking to the lads at the dealer regards the tyres they admitted that they would not put Conti's on any of their bikes and suggested either Anakee 111 or PR4's. As they did not have ...

Re: 1290 Super Adventure speed wobble

Thanks for the info regards the tyres. I have had a response from KTM and they are waiting for a report from the dealer. The dealer mechanic told me another owner changed the tyres and this made a big difference but KTM do not approve any other adventure bike tyres other than the Conti so I will be ...

Re: 1290 Super Adventure speed wobble

Been in touch with KTM. The bike has been back to the dealer to be checked over and they cant fix it. Still wobbles over 115 mph. Tried my mates GSA and it is rock steady at an indicated 135 mph where mine is using two lanes. Off to the IoM again in two weeks so getting pissed off now. By the way I ...

Re: 1290 Super Adventure speed wobble

As I said in my post I took all the luggage off as it had happened with my topbox on and I thought it may have been that.
If the head bearings have not been adjusted properly and OEM tyres are not up to the job on a brand new bike then I will really be pissed off!!!!

Re: SMT gone - New Super Adventure

Back from the TT and had a great week with good weather and brilliant racing. The problem is it was spoiled when trying to get some runs over the mountain. Left my GF at my Mothers house ( I am lucky enough to be from the IoM and have family to stay with), took the luggage off, set my bike up in spo...

Re: 1290 Super Adventure speed wobble

Just got back from the IoM TT and could not believe how bad my SA was when I got it over 120 mph. It was horrible. Is it really down to the tyres?

SMT gone - New Super Adventure

Swapped my 5 year old SMT for a new Super Adventure at the weekend. It's been snowing ever since (sorry) but managed a 160 miles on Saturday morning round Kielder Forest and Carter Bar. Even when running in managed to keep up with my (fast) mate on his GSA. The Lakes planned for early May then after...

Re: Bridgestone T30 or Pirelli Angel GT

Bike serviced, MOT and new PR4 tyres fitted this week ready for Switzerland in June. Kept the Avon 3D-XM to put back on at some stage. Plenty of life left in them yet but don't trust them on wet roads and not great in the dry. maybe I'll make a swing for the kids with them!!! Looking forward to tryi...

Re: simple luggage answer

I bought the Travel edition in 2011 that came with KTM badged TRAX side boxes and added a GIVI top box. I think it looks good and certainly works well. Need inner bags for the boxes as they leak but apart from that have done thousands of miles round Europe with no problems. They are wider than the b...

Re: JC Exhausts

Did you ever get your JCE cans? I have some on mine and they sound fantastic. I have to leave the baffles in when out with my mates as they do not like following me. Too LOUD!!!! It actually runs better with the baffles in and seems to have smoothed the throttle out a bit without changing anything e...

Re: Kev's SMT modification list

WOW, you guys have done all sorts to your bikes.
Mine has new JCE cans and it is fantastic. Does all this work really make that much difference or are you bored at home and need to be in the garage when your not out on the bike?

Re: Bridgestone T30 or Pirelli Angel GT

Update - Got a replacement tyre from Avon FOC and sent the damaged one back to them. I have chased for an answer to the damage I saw but they are telling me there was nothing wrong with it. I find that hard to believe and think they are covering something up. The new tyre has only done 1000 miles so...

Re: Bridgestone T30 or Pirelli Angel GT

Well it seems I dropped a b-----k buying the Avon Storm 3D-XM. After a trip to the Pecos Mountains and a mysterious groove appearing down the centre of the rear tyre I have sent pictures to Avon for comment. They want it back to test and I have been advised not to ride on it. No offer of a replaceme...
