Water pump impeller - destructive removal (60035055100)

Sweeta*serapingjesus I had to end up CUTTING my impeller off using a Dremel because the factory had glued it completely on. I tried wiggling, heat, taping, percussion for 2 hours in order from gentle to rough. It would not budge at all. When I serviced my SD's water pump ten years ago, it had a bit ...

Re: Splitting the cases !

Hi P. 66k is very good. Mine is 37k. I'll try to get that video out, but I've got a big interstate job coming up and I'm getting smashed at the moment. I'll get my water pump finished, then I'll start work on the video and pics. Watch this space. Everything wants to fit down a 1/2" pipe in my life a...

However, the other side of me is saying keep it and get a DR400SM as the spare bike !. The SMT can be in bits on the kitchen table all winter then

Camshift bearing bolts question

Hi All I need to replace my camshaft bearing support bolts when I go to replace my tappet buckets. They are rounded off (I didn't do it. That's now I found them !). The microfiche is hard to read. Could somebody verify the part numbers for me in the picture below. Thanks ! :) 4x 0912060255 AH SCREW ...

Re: Ignition wire problem

I put a monkey on it it's the key antenna. It's not physical (CRC won't work !). You'll have to split the cases and go in. Better than replacing the base gaskets

Re: Splitting the cases !

I totally agree regarding SMT reliability. Two points though. a) The support in Australia is S*ht. Something high maintenance (or above average), needs good support. It's not there. b) I only ride in winter. It's too hot in summer (Adelaide is probably similar to New York - we have extreme temperatu...

Re: Clutch problem

Luckily John Glenn didn't have KTM's bucket tappets in the Saturn V rocket otherwise he would have been rooted !

Re: Splitting the cases !

Yes, linehand they are about $89AUD locally. What is the go with these ?. Buy these expensive buckets for them to fail again within 30000km ???. The KTM promise was the LC8 motor wouldn't need to be touched until 100000km. 10 years ago, when I owned my 2006 990 SD, there was a bloke at work that own...

Re: Parts needed - hopefully

Looks like mostly cosmetic damage. The worst damage being the handle bar. It doesn't look too bad. Is the front brake master cylinder damaged ?. Good to see you are recovering.

Re: Splitting the cases !

At this stage, I have replaced both base gaskets and discovered I have got two shagged intake tappet buckets on rear cylinder (bike has only done 37000km !). This has put a blow on by plan. I was hoping to have bike back on the road in 2 weeks. Now I have to order more parts from England. In two wee...

Re: Rusted/captive engine bolt nut

No worries Linehand. Once I get my bike back on the road, I'll do a big post up and a video so people know what they are getting themselves in for. All up parts pretty cheap (by AU/NZ standards).. about $400AUD for parts (including oil, fuel, filters, water pump servicing etc). I brought them from F...

Re: Clutch problem

Here you go Herb, it's a long thread, but it's all there (see below). If in doubt, it's a quick check you can do that won't cost you anything. I use a 0.5mm jet. The 0.3mm blocks too easy and when it does it makes the bike feel like I'm doing clutchless shifts. The blocking is temperature and oil vi...

Re: Clutch problem

Hi Herb. Two things come to mind:

a) Low oil/oil leak/air in clutch hydraulic system

b) Clogged clutch oil jet.

What size clutch oil jet are you running ? 0.3mm, 0.4mm, 0.5mm ?. What engine oil are you using ?. How hot is it in England at the moment ?

Re: Rusted/captive engine bolt nut

Hi Mate So far a 4/5 difficulty and would turn into a cluster fk doing this with no preparation (I planned this to death !). I did most it of myself except for the actual engine removal (a mate came around to help with that). The motor is now in the dining room. I'm in the middle of fastening it to ...
