Re: 990 Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps
Hi MW, I am sorry to hear about your malfunctioning sec flies. It seems you fiddled quite around with your bike (in a good way). Shooting in the dark is always difficult. I suggest to get your ECU cable back and run some diagnostics using TuneECU. Also, wasn't there an option to disable the secondar...

Re: 990 Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps
Have a look at page 1 to pick your final map. Perhaps this one will do: #9/ Kev STD Air Box RC8 FINAL 19.8.12.hex Standard air box, standard air filter, snorkel installed. Can be used with STD or RC8 stacks. 2nd flies & shafts removed. Leovince pipes. O2 sensors turned off. EPC turned off. Rev limit...

Re: How to replace bearings in sprocket support/carrier?
Hi all, when changing my rear tire I too noticed that my sprocket carrier bearings had worn out big time. I made this video about the bearings and the carrier. https://youtu.be/_SdJwwwL2JE I hope it could be of use for the KTManiacs running into similar issues. BTW, My bearings were ordered by my lo...

Yes it is.
I did the TBS as well with the good old vacuum meters.

Re: 990 Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps
For the well willing amateurs just like me, I have made a video about how to sync the throttle bodies. https://youtu.be/P9eVwmslnVo Nice video. Did you check the pressure in tuneecu after syncing? Equal readings on both cylinders? The sensors connected with hoses to the throttle bodies are the Mani...

Re: 990 Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps
How I understand it you should still have balanced pressure even if you are using different stacks. I noticed a big change in lambda when balancing mine. It would be interesting to know if someone else have noticed the same.I can imagine it is quite difficult to balance the throttle bodies with sto...

Re: RE: Re: 990 Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps
It takes less than 30 minutes to take the flies out. Try it and judge for yourself. When riding with earplugs it is hardly noticeable. Much smoother ride with the flies out. But this is all subjective. Could anyone try to describe the noise? :) Skickat från min SM-G930F via Tapatalk It is a clear me...

Re: 990 Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps
Could anyone try to describe the noise? :) Skickat från min SM-G930F via Tapatalk It is a clear metalish rasping sound. You can hear the camshaft hammering the valves down. Best experienced between 3000 and 3500 rpm in my case. Outside this zone, the motor is purring like a kitten compared to the n...

Re: 990 Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps
Maybe because "Jnberr0" dosn´t want to listen to the intake sound (noise) :-) I had the secondary flies removed and the intake sound is very much noticeable. I mostly use ear plugs so I don´t care that much. /M Is it a big difference with second flies in? I always thought it was the open air filter...

Re: 990 Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps
Hi Tommy, Thanks for your analysis! I have read this forum and others extensively and realized along the way that the TPS voltage/setting is crucial and listens very carefully. I guess that if you load a customized fuel map, you should also know what the TPS voltage was of the bike it was made for. ...

Re: Finally found what I was looking for
Fitted a 16t front sprocket. I can only repeat what has been said before Excellent! Got new brakepads today. Genuine Brembo Toshiba pads :? Toshiba? The KTM logo is printed on the container, must be genuine I guess. When time permits I'm going to put them in next week. Than I'm all set for the Assen...

Re: 990 Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps
What is your TPS voltage at idle at operating temp? Hi kev, It is 0.66 volt at operating temp. Should I change it? http://i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj525/Mich6969019831/TPS_zpsx2tzbpds.jpg~original TuneECU shows me that it is idling at exactly 1420 rpm. I guess the tacho on my bike isn't that ac...

Re: 990 Power Commander 5 & Tune ECU custom maps
Last evening I had a chance to take my bike for a proper spin using map #13. Holy moly! Definitely a noticeable difference. Smooth is the word, from the lower- to the higher rev ranges. The bike also seems rev happier than before. On the tacho the idling seems to be higher than 1410 rpm. Also the le...

Re: Finally found what I was looking for
Nice mods. So the airbox was the one that made the biggest noticeable difference? In that case....... I might coop with the additional noise after all..... But for now my aim is to tweak the engine with the bits I have got. Done the sec flies last night, test ride this evening 8-) I probably need to...

Thanks for the ultra fast reply Kev!
In case I should adjust the TPS voltage, must I than reload the map again and do the 15 min reset again?
Cheers.

Hi all, what a great topic this is and thank you Kevin and others for putting so much effort in! Really amazing the knowledge you have. Re: Finally found what I was looking for
My experience with airboxes is that changing it doesn't influence the power or torque that much. If it does it is usually at the higher rpm regions. Besides, the intake noise will increase. Some people adore this, some don't. I am with the last group  I had my share with my Buell and the Forece...

Finally found what I was looking for
Hi all, I got myself a 2012 SMT with 34K on the clock after selling my Z1000 from 2009. I have been in search for the perfect bike and I think I have finally found it! What a great bike this is, I love twin engines. I have been riding tubular Buells (an M2 and an X1) for 9 years, I loved the looks, ...
